NY parking collapse causes car pile-up

A parking garage collapsed in Lower Manhattan, New York City on Tuesday, resulting in one death and four people being hospitalized.

Aerial footage showed a jumble of cars piled on top of one another in cracked concrete.

The building collapsed all the way to the cellar floor, with fears of further collapse.

The exterior of the building remained standing.

The acting head of New York's buildings department gave a press conference at the scene.

A robotics unit deployed a robot dog and fly drones inside the building to conduct searches.

Six workers were believed to be inside the building at the time of collapse.

Four workers were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

One person refused medical treatment and one person died.

Officials urged New Yorkers to avoid the area.
